Starlink powers ZimParks revolution, Farawo hypes Mutare tourism expo

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority transforms tourism development through infrastructure upgrades and technological innovation. The agency pursues conservation, community empowerment, and economic advancement as core objectives. Communities adjacent to parks benefit directly from established craft markets in Matobo, Nyanga, Hwange, and Victoria Falls, plus income projects like beekeeping and thatch grass collection.

Through the CAMPFIRE program, communities receive fifty-five percent of hunting revenues for self-directed infrastructure development such as schools and health clinics. Park improvements continue at Hwange, Mana Pools, and Gonarezhou, featuring the new Hwange One Stop Pavilion. Road rehabilitation projects decrease travel times while solar installations power accommodation facilities.

Technology advancements include a nearly complete online booking system and Starlink connectivity throughout the parks. Conservation employs SMART monitoring systems, drone surveillance, and satellite fire tracking for enhanced wildlife protection. Marketing efforts target the Eastern Highlands region, promoting Nyanga as a destination for adventure activities and positioning Chimanimani as a premier hiking destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
