Stellar Blade 2 goes multiplatform, and action evolves

A new job listing from developer Shift Up confirms that Stellar Blade 2 is in active development and will be a multiplatform release. This marks a departure from the first game, which launched exclusively on PlayStation 5 and personal computers. The sequel intends to build upon the original's stylish combat and narrative-driven world while delivering an evolved action experience.

The original Stellar Blade, the studio's first console and personal computer title, achieved significant commercial success. It became the fastest-selling Korean game on the Steam platform and generated a substantial portion of Shift Up's revenue shortly after its release. The game was praised for its solid combat and recognizable protagonist.

For the sequel, the studio has an opportunity to address criticisms of the first game's narrative. While serviceable for an action title, the original's story and world-building were not explored in great depth, an area the developers will likely seek to improve.
