Stray bullet kills student at Bimbilla fire festival

A teenage girl died when someone fired a gun during a traditional celebration last Saturday night. Fatima went to Bimbilla Senior High School and was enjoying the Fire Festival with other people from her town. A bullet hit her neck and killed her right away. Security officers took her body to the hospital after the shooting happened. The festival was supposed to be fun but turned deadly instead.

People at the festival were shooting guns and setting off dangerous things even though officials told them not to. The Municipal Security Council had warned everyone to stay safe and avoid using weapons. Witnesses said the scene was crazy with people firing guns everywhere. Officials had tried to stop this kind of dangerous behavior before the festival started. Many people ignored the safety warnings and kept using firearms anyway.

Dr. Adam Bonaa from the Ghana National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons had told people to be careful. He reminded everyone that guns are not toys and can kill people. His group said using firearms without permission breaks the law. The commission wanted people to celebrate without violence or dangerous weapons. They asked anyone who saw illegal gun use to call the police right away.

Police officers are looking into how Fatima died and who shot the gun. People from the community want someone to be punished for what happened. Rights groups are demanding better safety rules during cultural events. Fatima's death shows how dangerous it is when people use guns at festivals. The celebration was meant to bring people together but caused tragedy instead.
