SuiHub Lagos launch triggers outrage as blockchain rivals fear Nigeria takeover

Blockchain platform Sui established its fourth global physical hub in Lagos, targeting West Africa's expanding developer community. The new facility joins existing locations in Dubai, Vietnam, and Athens as part of the Sui Foundation's worldwide expansion strategy. Lagos represents a strategic choice given Nigeria's position as a technology center with robust startup activity and growing cryptocurrency adoption.

The community-focused space will provide developers with access to Sui's infrastructure while hosting educational programs and networking events. Workshop sessions will cover Move programming language training and development using Sui-native applications like zkLogin and Walrus storage systems. The foundation plans to extend programming beyond Nigeria into Ghana and Kenya markets.

Sui Foundation previously conducted grassroots outreach across Africa through hackathons before establishing the permanent location. Mysten Labs co-founder Adenyi Abiodun created a dedicated fund supporting Nigerian students pursuing blockchain development training. The Lagos hub represents part of broader regional investment as the foundation seeks to connect local talent with international mentorship and funding opportunities through collaborative programming.
