Summer Walker drops album, ignores baby mama drama

Summer Walker has claimed the strongest R&B album launch by a female artist this year after her third studio project landed at number two on the Billboard 200 with 77,000 equivalent units. The 18-track collection generated approximately 92 million streams and 8,000 physical purchases, marking her fourth appearance in the chart's upper tier while featuring collaborations with Chris Brown, Anderson. Paak, Bryson Tiller, and Mariah The Scientist.

The release completes a trilogy that began with her 2019 sophomore effort, which also reached the runner-up position, and continued with a 2021 follow-up that captured the top spot. A duet with Mariah The Scientist has emerged as the breakout single, entering the Hot 100 at position 58.

Walker's professional triumph arrives amid romantic controversy after reports surfaced linking her to rapper Rich The Kid despite his engagement to another woman, though the scandal has failed to diminish the commercial reception of her latest material.
