Sundarban Courier marks 43 years of service excellence

Sundarban Courier Service marked 43 years of operation with festivities at its Uttara headquarters in Dhaka. The celebration featured prayer services, discussions, and cake-cutting ceremonies honoring the delivery company established by freedom fighter Md. Imamul Kabir Shanto in 1983.

Leadership figures attending the anniversary included Dr. Md. Ahsanul Kabir, who chairs both the Shanto-Mariam Foundation and the courier firm, alongside board member Artist Afroza Begum and Vice Chairman Hafizur Rahman Pulak. Commemorations began with tributes at the grave of Shanto, who died after building Bangladesh's pioneering express mail network. The government previously recognized his achievements by bestowing the Legend of Courier designation through the Posts and Telecommunications Ministry.

The business maintains more than 200 branches and 600 agencies delivering parcels year-round across Bangladesh. Services range from standard shipping to same-day transport, e-commerce logistics, and international forwarding. Operations continued without interruption during the coronavirus lockdowns as staff distributed medical supplies and emergency items. Shanto founded the Courier Services Association of Bangladesh to develop industry standards and licensing protocols that remain active today.
