Susan Mangeni leads Nyota rollout

Officials said the NYOTA project would expand beyond the Western Cluster to training across 25 counties, including Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Uasin Gishu and Nakuru. Principal Secretary for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Susan Mang'eni, explained that participants must attend three sessions to access seed funding and that later phases will bring the remaining counties, Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Mombasa and Garissa into the State Department for MSMEs under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Mang'eni reported that in Western region counties Kakamega and Bungoma, 12,155 trainees had completed business classes and disbursements of Sh303,875,000 had been made through NYOTA Pochi La Biashara accounts, each receiving Sh22,000, with Sh3,000 kept as term savings. She added that beneficiaries would proceed to mentorship and advanced training led by Business Development Service Providers, within a plan targeting 100,000 young people, including 5,000 refugees based in the Kakuma and Dadaab camps and 5,000 participants from host communities.
