Taliban blames Pakistan for stalled talks despite ceasefire

Following mediated talks in Istanbul, Afghanistan's Taliban government asserted that negotiations with Pakistan did not resolve. A Taliban spokesman stated that Pakistan demonstrated an uncooperative attitude and placed excessive security demands on Afghanistan without offering reciprocal commitments. Despite the diplomatic stalemate, the spokesman confirmed that a previously established ceasefire would continue to be observed.

The core dispute involves Pakistan's accusation that Taliban authorities are providing sanctuary to the Tehreek-e Taliban Pakistan armed group, a claim which Afghanistan denies. Pakistan maintains it will take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and people. Recent border clashes and air strikes have resulted in numerous military and civilian casualties on both sides.
