Tanzania's education minister has announced accelerated reforms to accommodate a double cohort entering secondary schools as two primary grade levels complete simultaneously due to curriculum restructuring. Professor Adolf Mkenda stated the government will upgrade facilities to enable primary institutions to host secondary classes, while some secondary schools will incorporate lower grades, ensuring students can access nearby education centers.
The minister emphasized expanding technical and vocational training through 103 specialized institutions to reduce stigma around skills-based learning and meet labor market demands. President Samia Suluhu Hassan established a separate youth ministry to address employment preparation, while authorities plan increased sponsorships for exceptional students pursuing overseas education.
Deputy Minister Wanu Hafidh Ameir pledged departmental cooperation to implement the transformation aligned with national development objectives through the year 2050.
