Arab Maritime Academy Explores Training Deal with Tanzania Ports.
A team from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASMT) visited Tanzania's port authority Thursday to discuss training partnerships.
The group met with Bandari College Principal Dr. Lufunyo Hussein in Dar es Salaam. They aimed to boost maritime education and port operations in Tanzania.
"This initiative helps expand Tanzania's maritime infrastructure and workforce," Hussein said.
AASMT Dean Prof Mohammed Essam Khedr proposed joint courses with Tanzanian schools. The plan would bring in teachers from Egypt, Spain, and France.
"We have a strong market in Africa. We can build programs with Tanzanian institutes to share knowledge and resources," Khedr said.
AASMT President Prof Ismail Abdelghafal offered specialized training with international experts. The courses would cover maritime and logistics topics.
Tanzania plans major port projects in Bagamoyo, Mtwara, and Tanga. These developments will need skilled workers, including pilots and marine engineers.
"Training the right people matters for port security and efficiency," Hussein said.
Hala El Sheridy, CEO of Integrated Solutions for Ports, discussed adding automation systems. "These solutions can improve Tanzania's port performance," she said.
The talks will lead to a formal agreement between AASMT and Tanzania's port authority. This partnership will include training programs and research projects.
AASMT works with global schools, including the World Maritime University. The academy trains maritime professionals across Egypt and Arab countries.
