Tanzania to provide 600 artificial limbs in a special camp

The Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute, in partnership with the Indian High Commission, will host a special two-month camp to provide artificial limbs to 600 Tanzanians. The Acting Executive Director of MOI, Dr. Lemeri Mchome, announced that registration would begin at the institute, with the camp officially operating from the Swami Vivekanand Cultural Centre in Dar es Salaam. He noted that 300 individuals were already registered and advised that only those fully recovered from their injuries should participate.

Lakshay Anand, a representative from the Indian Embassy, stated that experts would utilize the advanced Jaipur Foot prosthetic technology. This technology enables recipients with below-the-knee amputations to perform various activities, including walking, running, and driving. He encouraged all eligible individuals who have lost limbs to come forward for treatment at the camp.
