Taraji P. Henson and rapper-turned-actor Joey Bada$$ are set to star in the upcoming faith-based film Tis So Sweet, marking the second collaboration between producers DeVon Franklin and Tyler Perry for Netflix.
The film is inspired by the real-life journey of bakery owner Lenore Lindsey, whose discovery in Chicago went viral in November 2024. It tells the story of Lindsey’s efforts to reclaim lost time, heal old wounds, and find unexpected purpose. Tasha Smith is directing the film, which features a script by Randy Brown. Franklin and Perry are producing, with Tony Strickland and Angi Bones serving as executive producers for Tyler Perry Studios.
Henson, known for her Oscar and Golden Globe nominations in roles like Empire, Hidden Figures, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, joins the cast, while Joey Bada$$ brings his acting experience from Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Mr. Robot, and Grown-ish. Tis So Sweet follows Ruth & Boaz, the first film in the Franklin-Perry partnership, which reached number two on Netflix's Global Top 10 Movies List after its September 26 release.
