Tarkov 1.0 hits Steam from Battlestate Games

The developer Battlestate Games has confirmed the full release of its military first-person shooter Escape from Tarkov, which will launch on the Steam platform. Game Director Nikita Buyanov described the 1.0 update as a very large-scale release containing a massive amount of new content, including a concluding story campaign. He noted that developing this update required over two years of work.

Buyanov reflected on the game’s lengthy development, which spanned more than eight years. He stated that the process was complex, involving numerous obstacles and the creation of entirely new systems. He expressed pride in the studio’s role in establishing the extraction shooter subgenre and said he welcomes other games in the category, like ARC Raiders. He emphasized that Battlestate’s goal was simply to create a unique game for a hardcore audience.

Looking ahead, the studio confirmed a post-launch DLC called Scav Life and ongoing improvements to anti-cheat measures and server stability. Buyanov also revealed that Battlestate Games is considering a future console port for the title and has significant plans to expand the Tarkov universe.
