Coach Taurai Mangwiro celebrated his 55th birthday Monday in Chisumbanje after his GreenFuel team held FC Platinum to a goalless draw. The veteran coach has spent 19 years leading teams like Masvingo United, CAPS United, and Harare City. He remains the only manager who has won the Chibuku Super Cup with two different clubs – Harare City in 2015 and Triangle United in 2018.
Mangwiro still chases one missing achievement – a league championship. He came close in 2014 with CAPS United, finishing third just four points behind champions Dynamos. At GreenFuel, he has collected nine points from six matches through two wins, three draws, and one loss.
"The ultimate goal for every coach is to win the league title," Mangwiro said. He believes the 2025 season might become one of the most competitive ever. New teams Scottland and MWOS have added excitement, with MWOS surprisingly leading the table after six matches.
GreenFuel hosts ZPC Kariba on Saturday, hoping to close the gap on the leaders. Only two points separate them from fourth-placed Simba Bhora. Mangwiro counts on veteran forwards Perfect Chikwende and Ronald Chitiyo, who have already scored three goals this season.
