Teen’s tribute book aims to lift Namibia’s poor

A teenager from Ongwediva Secondary School has authored a tribute honoring an educator who transformed her life, with plans to direct sales revenue toward helping disadvantaged students across the country. Vickitoria Kelumbu, 17, published The Teacher I'll Never Forget: A Story of Lasting Inspiration as both recognition for her mentor and a fundraising vehicle to purchase supplies and meals for children facing hardship.

The student writer described her project as a genuine account expressing thanks to someone who encouraged her self-confidence and determination. Kelumbu acknowledged the difficulty of managing academic responsibilities while completing her manuscript, admitting she frequently questioned whether her narrative would resonate with audiences. She learned about publishing procedures, research methods, formatting requirements and design elements throughout the process, gaining patience and perseverance along the way.

Initial responses have praised the emotional resonance of her work. Reader Aina Henock noted the potential for the narrative to inspire personal growth, while Anna Immanuel highlighted how the author conveyed appreciation for an instructor who fostered belief and empowerment. Kelumbu encourages other young people to pursue their ambitions, emphasizing that age should not limit action and that modest goals can generate meaningful impact.
