Temba Mliswa's arrest fuels 150k bribe cartel storm

Police arrested former Norton MP Temba Mliswa on Sunday June 15 before releasing him the same day. Twelve armed Law and Order officers detained Mliswa at Chinhoyi station. Commissioner Tawonei Nyazema ordered the arrest according to Mliswa's social media statements. The politician blames top officials for protecting illegal mining operations around Sanyati. ZRP Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba intervened and secured Mliswa's release.

Mliswa accused Nyazema and Minister Marian Chombo of taking bribes from Chinese miners. The former MP claims both officials received 150,000 dollars to ignore environmental damage. His company Cubs Den Consolidated works to protect Rengwe Conservancy from mining destruction. Illegal operations destroy wildlife habitats and hurt tourism opportunities across the region. Environmental Management Authority gave Cubs Den permits for river rehabilitation projects.

The arrest happened after Mliswa exposed corruption among government leaders. He called the detention an abuse of power meant to silence his investigations. Mining cartels operate with protection from senior officials according to his allegations. Commissioner General Mutamba promised full investigations into the arrest circumstances. Police leadership committed to maintaining professional standards during future operations.
