The Scoop on XenForo Forums and Threads

XenForo offers many different forum types for community builders. The basic one people see most often works as a discussion area. These places hold regular threads where members talk about various topics. Anyone can start new threads or add replies to existing ones.

Regular discussion threads show posts in order by date. The first message appears at the top, and all answers follow below it. XenForo displays a set number of posts on each page. When that limit runs out, newer messages move to the next page, keeping everything neat for readers.

Members can create poll threads inside discussion forums. These special threads ask questions with multiple answers. Other users pick their favorite choices by voting. The system counts these votes automatically. XenForo makes it easy to see which options people prefer most.

Discussion forums usually list threads by their newest activity. Recent messages appear higher than older ones. Users can narrow down what they see with filters. They might want to find threads from last month or those without any answers yet. XenForo includes these helpful tools.

The software also lets administrators build mixed-type forums. These special areas can hold several kinds of threads together. Admins need to visit the control panel to set this up. They check boxes next to the thread types they want to permit. Some thread types, like suggestion threads, cannot work in mixed forums.
