TIFA says Kenya side-eyes IEBC, 2027 vote faith MIA

TIFA Research findings demonstrate widespread skepticism among Kenyan voters regarding electoral integrity for the upcoming 2027 general election. The polling data indicate that 48 percent of citizens doubt the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission will conduct credible voting processes. Political manipulation and systemic corruption represent primary worries for 45 percent of those expressing concerns. Trust deficits toward newly appointed commissioners and leadership affect 34 percent of skeptical respondents. Violence threats and technological breakdowns constitute additional barriers to electoral confidence.

Researchers gathered responses from 2,024 participants across nine regional zones through telephone surveys conducted between late August and early September 2025. The study maintains statistical accuracy within a 2.17 percent margin of error. The survey methodology involved initial face-to-face contact collection, followed by interviews conducted in Kiswahili and English. Geographic coverage spanned Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift, and Western areas. These findings reflect deteriorating public faith in Kenya's democratic institutions ahead of the next presidential contest.
