Tim Sweeney Admits Epic Games Launcher Feels Clunky

Epic Games leader Tim Sweeney spoke with Lex Fridman for four hours about many topics. He admitted the Epic Games Launcher needs work. The company must make the program less clunky for users. They focused more on store features than on making the launcher run smoothly.

Steam runs better because Valve worked on it for 15 years with top programmers. Epic spent time adding ways to sell different game versions instead of fixing basic problems. The launcher works well for some people but runs poorly for others, depending on the internet connection speed. Epic noticed these issues late but wants to fix them. Steam also had problems when it first came out years ago.

The Epic Games Launcher launched in December 2018, giving the company plenty of time to improve it. Users still wait for better performance from the program. Many gamers say Steam offers a better overall experience. Epic knows what needs fixing, but must make these changes happen faster to keep players happy.
