Tinubu Brings Massive INEC Annex to Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu promises to make Nigeria's elections better through stronger democratic systems. He spoke Tuesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for a new INEC headquarters building. The president calls the project more than just construction work. He describes it as a center for election planning and training activities. Tinubu wants to give INEC better tools and legal support for running fair elections.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike started the building project that will help solve INEC's space problems. The current headquarters forces staff to rent extra offices because rooms are too crowded. INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu thanks both leaders for making the expansion possible. The new five-story building sits on 1.5 hectares of land near the main office. Workers will add a library, museum, meeting rooms, and a 1000-seat auditorium.

Federal Executive Council approved the project during March 2025 meetings according to government records. Wike promises the building will finish before Tinubu's first term ends. The FCT Administration will watch over construction work through its development agency. Leaders believe the new space will make elections run more smoothly. Better facilities should help INEC serve voters across Nigeria more effectively.
