Tinubu jets off as bomb blast, US strike grip Nigeria

The President chose a vacation over addressing a national crisis. That is the charge from Bolaji Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress. He slammed President Bola Tinubu for traveling to Europe as security in Nigeria deteriorates. Abdullahi called the trip insensitive and alarming. He pointed to a deadly bomb blast in Zamfara State and the recent U.S. military strike inside Nigeria as critical issues demanding attention.

Abdullahi stated the nation is confused and scared, waiting for reassurance from its leader. Instead, they heard the President went on holiday. He emphasized that Tinubu's silence on these security problems, combined with his absence, shows a worrying lack of responsive leadership. The criticism came despite reports framing the travel as a trip to Europe ahead of an official sustainability summit in Abu Dhabi, invited by the UAE President.
