Tinubu to PDP Chill, We Are Not a One-Party State

President Bola Tinubu rejected claims that he wants Nigeria to become a single political party country. He spoke to lawmakers during Democracy Day celebrations on Thursday. Many opposition politicians have joined his All Progressives Congress party recently. The president promised he would never support having just one political party. He said multiple parties help make Nigeria stronger and more democratic.

Tinubu reminded people about his time as Lagos State governor from 1999 to 2007. He served as an opposition leader during those years and fought against the ruling party. The president said he was the last progressive governor standing in his region during the 2003 elections. Opposition parties tried to remove him from power through tricks and manipulation. Tinubu survived those attacks and kept fighting for democratic values across the country.

The president welcomes opposition members who want to join the APC party. He compared their actions to people leaving a sinking ship without life jackets. Tinubu said he cannot blame politicians for switching sides when their parties face serious problems. Opposition groups worry about losing members to the ruling party. The president assured everyone that Nigeria needs different political parties to stay healthy and competitive.
