Tipcee returns from anxiety break, drops fiery new EP

Gqom artist Tipcee has explained that her long career hiatus was due to a private struggle with anxiety. The singer, whose real name is Thobeka Ndaba, described experiencing a paralyzing creative block that left her unable to record, a condition later diagnosed by a doctor. She also feared her evolving musical style would not be accepted by fans.

The performer from Umlazi in Durban first gained major attention in 2016 and later collaborated with figures like DJ Tira. Her recent return is marked by a new EP titled Untamed, released under the Afrotainment label. Tipcee says she is now in a better place and has more music planned, including a single expected next year. Her openness adds to a growing conversation about mental health pressures within South Africa's entertainment industry.
