The cops in Bangladesh are digging into a political murder and stumbled onto a huge money trail. The main guy they want, Faisal Karim Masud, also called Daud Khan or Rahul, is still missing. They popped a bunch of his crew, though, even some family, for helping him hide. This all started after Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, who was with Inqilab Moncho and was gonna run for office in Dhaka-8, got shot in Purana Paltan.
The real kicker is the bank stuff. The Criminal Investigation Department checked out a pile of checkbooks from the suspects. They found records for checks totaling a wild 218 crore taka that were never actually cashed. More importantly, they tracked over 127 crore taka in seriously sketchy transactions through accounts linked to the accused and his people. They think it's dirty money, maybe for organized crime or worse. That's enough for them to open a whole new probe for money laundering.
They're trying to freeze about 65 lakh taka from those accounts right now. The whole investigation is widening to see if some big network paid for the hit and provided the gun. Different units are working with other agencies to find where the cash actually came from and to round up everyone involved.
