Koei Tecmo just showed 17.5 minutes of Nioh 3 chaos, and it jumps eras, styles, and vibes hard before dumping you into demon hell.
What Koei Tecmo just dropped
What Koei Tecmo just dropped
- Koei Tecmo rolled out a 17.5-minute gameplay showcase
- The spotlight was fully on Nioh 3
- The footage focused on one time period, not the whole timeline flex
- The demo kicks off in the Sengoku period
- This version of history is absolutely not chill
- Yōkai are roaming freely as if it were normal
- A nightmare zone called the Crucible exists, and that is the main problem
- The player roams a wide open field, trying to reach it
- The protagonist is Tokugawa Takechiyo, also known as Iemitsu
- He is a real historical figure dropped into supernatural chaos
- His whole deal is adapting, not locking into one approach
- You can swap styles mid-fight with zero ceremony
- Samurai style is about standing your ground and trading blows
- Stances matter, timing matters, and deflecting keeps you alive
- Ninja style is pure movement and disrespect
- Expect air dodges, back attacks, and sneaky pressure
- The devs at Team Ninja stressed this part
- Some characters are friendly
- Some Yōkai are also not enemies
- Talking to them can pay off with rewards
- Eventually, the journey leads straight into the Crucible
- It is packed with aggressive Yōkai
- Fights here are harder than what came before
- The beings who summoned it were once heroes
- They lost the plot chasing ambition and bad causes
- The footage later jumps to the Heian period
- Everything is frozen solid
- The land is completely corrupted
- Your job is the same as elsewhere
- Cleanse the Crucible and push the Yōkai out
- Nioh 3 launches February 6, 2026
- Platforms are PC and PlayStation 5
- A free demo lands January 29
- Demo progress carries into the full game
- It is basically early access without the commitment
