Tokyo disappointment as Benjamin Azamati clocks 10.30, faces exit

Benjamin Azamati recorded 10.30 seconds while placing sixth during Heat 5 of the men's 100m competition at the World Athletics Championships on Saturday. The Ghanaian sprinter posted the field's slowest reaction time at 0.211 seconds and lost ground against faster competitors during the race's final portion. Botswana's Letsile Tebogo claimed victory with 10.07 seconds, while Canada's Andre De Grasse finished second at 10.16 seconds and America's Courtney Lindsey took third place in 10.19 seconds. These three athletes earned direct advancement to Sunday's semi-final round through their top finishes. The 26-year-old Azamati must wait for officials to determine whether his time ranks among the quickest non-automatic qualifiers from all preliminary heats to continue his championship campaign.
