Toontrack just released Modern Pop Piano EKX for EZkeys 2. This expansion combines an old upright piano with layers of synths and cool effects. The main instrument is a 1950s Grotrian-Steinweg piano recorded at Riksmixingsverket studio in Stockholm. Engineer Linn Fijal captured its natural sound using different microphones.
The team created 80 special presets split into three groups. Natural presets keep the acoustic piano sound with light effects. Processed presets add more layers and saturated effects. Experimental presets mix piano sounds with warped synths and extreme effects. They processed the original recordings through analog gear like compressors, EQs, and tape machines.
This expansion works great for ambient music, EDM tracks, singer-songwriter tunes, or electronic experiments. Musicians can find sounds ranging from gentle natural tones to wild distorted textures.
