Toufexis calls out Embracer, says no new Deus Ex coming

Adam Jensen's voice actor just went scorched earth on the corporate suits, killing his franchise. Elias Toufexis posted his 2026 work slate on X, featuring Marathon and three secret projects while confirming none are Deus Ex because the bosses are psychopaths. He aimed this jab at Embracer Group leadership who reportedly canned the Eidos Montreal revival back in early 2024. The studio apparently pitched a sequel to various publishers last year only to hear the IP was too niche to fund. Developers hoped to rival Cyberpunk 2077 but instead faced layoffs and a pivot to Tomb Raider. The sole related content surviving is a remaster of the original title which recently suffered an indefinite delay following negative feedback. It seems the immersive sim dream is dead in the water for the foreseeable future.
