Toyota fires up sales as Rumion, GST slash prices

Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 31,091 vehicles in September, representing a 16 percent increase from 26,847 units during the same month last year. The manufacturer delivered 27,089 units domestically and exported 4,002 vehicles while achieving cumulative sales of 184,959 units between April and September. Vice President Varinder Wadhwa attributed stronger consumer interest to GST reforms and the festive season as the company transferred tax savings directly to buyers.

The automaker introduced the updated Rumion with standard six airbags across all trim levels in September and reduced prices following GST adjustments. Toyota partnered with Japanese performance group DRUM TAO as brand ambassadors while manufacturing models such as Innova HyCross and Fortuner at its Bidadi facility. The second plant produces Camry Hybrid and Urban Cruiser Hyryder alongside imported vehicles like Vellfire and LC 300. Management prioritized timely deliveries to accommodate customer purchases during the holiday period.
