Trader Busted over Gun and RED Drug Haul

Police arrested Amidu Mohammed at his shop in Sabon Zongo near Accra. The 30-year-old trader had dangerous drugs and a gun without permission. Officers from the Accra Regional Police Command went to the area after getting information. Mohammed told police he had some drugs and sold others to someone local. He said a stranger left the weapon at his store, but could not name the person.

Police searched the shop and found several restricted medicines. They discovered Tramico 225, Tramaking 225, and Tafrodol 225 pills, which people commonly refer to as Red. Officers also found Diazepam 10 tablets, known as Blue-Blue or Valium 10. A pump-action firearm was hidden inside a sack at the location. The drugs require prescriptions and cannot be sold freely.

Mohammed appeared at the Dansoman Circuit Court to face two criminal charges. He violated the Pharmacy Act by having dangerous drugs illegally. The second charge involves possessing a firearm without proper authority under the Criminal Offences Act. Both laws carry serious penalties for violations. The case continues through the court system.
