A trailer hauling metal oxide combusted along the Elite highway near Kuala Lumpur International Airport, destroying approximately four-fifths of the vehicle before firefighters gained control. Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said crews from Dengkil station arrived after receiving emergency notification, supported by teams from Cyberjaya and Shah Alam who battled the blaze through the night.
Removal operations proved complicated because the flammable cargo prevented the use of heavy machinery that could spark renewed combustion through metal-on-metal contact. Responders instead pushed the damaged vehicle toward a grassy embankment to clear the roadway shoulder without risking reignition of the aluminum or zinc oxide load.
