Trent Alexander Arnold Says Ballon dOr Is a Stretch

Trent Alexander-Arnold believes he cannot win the Ballon d'Or at Real Madrid because the team has many great players. The England defender spoke Thursday during his first meeting with reporters as a Madrid player. He joked that competing against his talented teammates makes individual awards nearly impossible. Alexander-Arnold said he feels happy to play alongside these stars instead of facing them as opponents. The former Liverpool captain thinks the squad's depth creates tough competition for personal recognition.

Alexander-Arnold moved from Liverpool to Madrid after his contract ended with the Premier League champions. The 26-year-old right-back will wear jersey number 12 that Marcelo used before him. Manager Xabi Alonso added Alexander-Arnold to the squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup tournament. The defender expects to contribute to team success rather than chase individual prizes. Alexander-Arnold wants to help Madrid win trophies and compete at the highest level with world-class teammates.
