Trinity driver blows $3,753 company cash on Aviator

A 23-year-old pharmacy driver gambled away more than US$3,750 in company cash through the Aviator betting game after collecting funds from two Harare locations, according to court proceedings. Edwin Ziko pleaded guilty before Magistrate Artwell Sanyatwe to theft charges involving money he gathered on November 5 from Trinity Pharmacy branches at Karigamombe in the central business district and on Chiremba Road in Hillside.

Human resources officer Fidelis Chiwada initiated an investigation after Ziko failed to deliver envelopes containing US$1,400 and ZiG 400 from the first location, plus an additional US$2,353 from the second branch. The driver told the court he intended to multiply the funds rather than steal them, expressing remorse for his actions. None of the missing money has been recovered, and sentencing was scheduled to follow his guilty plea.
