Trump backs Ukraine at UN, tells NATO to swat Russian jets

President Donald Trump declared Ukraine capable of recovering its entire territory from Russian forces with European Union and NATO assistance during remarks following his United Nations General Assembly address Tuesday. The president characterized Russia as economically weakened and militarily ineffective after more than three years of warfare. Trump pledged continued American weapon deliveries to NATO while dismissing Russian capabilities as those of a paper tiger.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised Trump for demonstrating comprehensive knowledge about the conflict during their joint briefing. Zelensky reported Ukrainian military progress of 360 kilometers with 1,000 Russian soldiers surrounded by his forces. He requested additional sanctions to prevent European nations from purchasing Russian energy resources.

Trump advised NATO members to engage Russian aircraft entering their airspace militarily. The president emphasized Russia's poor economic performance while commending Ukraine's remarkable resistance against Moscow's invasion. Trump described Ukraine's defensive capabilities as making Russia appear weak and undistinguished after years of failed military operations.
