Trump hints at third term but rules out VP run

President Donald Trump expressed openness to pursuing a third White House term but dismissed suggestions he could run as vice president in 2028 to bypass constitutional limits. The 79-year-old leader called the running mate strategy inappropriate and said voters would reject such maneuvering.

Trump told reporters traveling with him from Malaysia to Japan that he had not developed concrete plans for extending his presidency beyond the current term. Former adviser Steve Bannon claimed last week that preparations were underway to secure Trump another four years in office, though the president provided no details about potential methods.

The Republican leader identified Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as capable successors. Trump noted that his administration contained more talented officials than his Democratic opponents and cited strong approval ratings as evidence of continued political support.
