Trump prosecutor Jason Reding Quiñones targets ex-FBI officials

A federal prosecutor in Miami has issued over two dozen subpoenas to former intelligence and law enforcement officials as part of an expanding investigation into alleged efforts to target President Trump, according to individuals with direct knowledge of the matter. Jason A. Reding Quiñones, the Trump-appointed U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida, sent the subpoenas last week to recipients including former national intelligence director James R. Clapper Jr., ex-FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok, and former bureau lawyer Lisa Page.

The inquiry initially centered on a January 2017 intelligence community assessment regarding Russian election interference, specifically examining former CIA director John O. Brennan's role in preparing the document. The case was transferred this fall from David Metcalf, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, to Reding Quiñones as Justice Department officials decided to broaden the investigation's scope.

The subpoenas request documents or communications spanning July 2016 through February 2017, with a response deadline of November 20. Previous investigations by the Justice Department inspector general and special counsel John H. Durham found no evidence supporting charges against senior officials like Brennan.
