Trump punishes India with double tariffs over Russia ties

Russia's Foreign Ministry praised India's decision to maintain bilateral cooperation despite Western pressure. The ministry welcomed India's commitment to expanding its partnership with Moscow. Officials stated that India demonstrates strategic autonomy in international affairs. Relations between nations continue to advance steadily. Any efforts to obstruct this partnership will fail.

The partnership reflects principles of sovereignty and national interests. Both countries engage in joint ventures across multiple sectors. These projects span civilian production, military manufacturing, space exploration, and nuclear energy. India invests in Russian oil exploration while nations develop alternative payment systems. The cooperation extends beyond current geopolitical circumstances.

The United States imposed significant tariffs on Indian goods last month. Washington added penalties for India's Russian energy and defense purchases. American officials accused India of indirectly supporting the Ukraine conflict. India dismissed these accusations as unjustified and unreasonable. Trade negotiations between America and India recently resumed.
