Trump sends troops to Portland, dares Antifa, and snubs locals

President Donald Trump authorized military deployment to Portland on Saturday as part of his immigration enforcement campaign. The Republican leader extended domestic troop usage after similar actions in Los Angeles and Washington DC against Democratic local leadership wishes. Trump cited ongoing attacks on Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities by protesters he labeled domestic terrorists.

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek and Portland Mayor Keith Wilson rejected the federal intervention. Both officials argued no security threats justified military presence in their city. The deployment follows recent deadly incidents including a shooting at a Texas ICE facility and the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Trump designated Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization while ordering FBI investigations into organized political violence. Federal agents received deployment orders to ICE locations nationwide under Attorney General Pam Bondi's directive.
