Trump vows land war on cartels after sinking boats

President Donald Trump indicated the United States might redirect anti-cartel operations to land routes after naval strikes reduced maritime drug trafficking in the Caribbean. Trump stated that vessels have disappeared from the waters as the Navy eliminates cartel targets at sea. The administration confirmed on Friday that airstrikes killed four individuals aboard a suspected narcotics vessel in international waters.

The Department of War reported this marked the fourth confirmed attack under the expanded campaign against drug traffickers. U.S. warships deployed to the Caribbean target routes connected to Venezuela's Tren de Aragua network. Washington designated the organization as a foreign terrorist group and accused it of trafficking narcotics, weapons, and people under Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro's direction.
