Tuah-Yeboah Backs Dame in CJ Court Showdown

Alfred Tuah-Yeboah supports Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo's choice to hire Godfred Yeboah Dame as her lawyer. The former Deputy Attorney-General said Torkonoo can pick any qualified attorney to defend her. Legal expert Martin Kpebu attacked Dame's fitness to represent the suspended Chief Justice. Kpebu pointed to Dame's problems from the ambulance court case, where he allegedly tried to coach witnesses. Audio recordings showed Dame talking to Richard Jakpa about lying during testimony.

Kpebu called Torkonoo's lawyer choice terrible and said the optics look very bad for her case. He mentioned that Dame appeared to pressure Jakpa to testify against Cassiel Ato Forson. The leaked audio tape became court evidence and sparked criticism about Dame manipulating the legal process. Critics accused Dame of requesting fake medical reports and coaching witnesses to lie. Kpebu said Dame claimed President Akufo-Addo and Finance Minister Ofori-Atta pushed him to prosecute certain people.

Tuah-Yeboah spoke on JoyNews Newsfile and defended Dame's right to represent any client. He said nothing stops qualified lawyers from taking cases even when they face controversies. Dame filed papers at the Supreme Court asking for 16 different court orders to help Torkonoo. The lawsuit wants to reverse her suspension and stop the committee investigating her removal. Dame also wants to block certain justices from participating because they might not judge fairly.
