Ubisoft's Far Cry show is already an embarrassment, not of riches

Ubisoft accidentally revealed development of a Far Cry television adaptation through an early website posting. The company quickly removed the information, but users captured details before the page disappeared. FX will produce the series in an anthology format. Each season will feature different characters and settings that mirror the video game franchise's standalone storytelling approach. Rob Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia will star in the first season.

Noah Hawley will serve as showrunner for the project. Hawley previously created the acclaimed Fargo series and the upcoming Alien Earth program. Multiple executives will oversee production from various companies and Ubisoft's entertainment division. The collaboration aims to explore psychological themes and dark human elements that characterize the Far Cry brand. This announcement follows Ubisoft's recent confirmation of an Assassin's Creed series at Netflix.
