UDA slams Gachagua’s claims against IEBC’s Fahima as baseless

United Democratic Alliance officials have rejected bribery allegations targeting Electoral Commission Vice Chairperson Fahima Araphat Abdallah. Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claimed Abdallah met with Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung'aro and Commissioner Alutalala Mukhwana to arrange corrupt payments aimed at manipulating the Magarini Constituency by-election. He alleged that officials received threats and that presiding officer information was transferred after financial transactions occurred.

UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar Hassan dismissed the accusations as fabricated attacks designed to undermine a female leader. He referenced constitutional provisions requiring political parties to uphold gender equality and human rights while criticizing what he characterized as inflammatory rhetoric. Hassan maintained that electoral officer selection follows strict legal protocols independent of external interference.

The Secretary General called for an investigation into how an impeached official continues operating publicly and urged protection of democratic institutions through lawful procedures.
