UFZA Corruption Bombshell Hits Museveni Doorstep

Someone wrote President Museveni about money problems at the Uganda Free Zones Authority last December. They claim leaders misused over 326 million shillings during 2023-2024. The letter points to fake reports for work never done. They question whether Tom Nyombi from the Finance Ministry actually worked his paid 77 days, since no attendance records exist.

The letter says training money went for foreign trips instead of staff learning. The writer doubts if Executive Director Hez Kimoomi met the job requirements with his Social Work degree. They claim he changed the qualification rules later to make his hiring look proper. The whistleblower also says many workers left because of him.

Kimoomi calls these claims false attacks from people who want jobs already filled. He says the money was paid for proper training from approved budgets. He believes the writer should have used internal complaint systems first. The president's press secretary promised to look into the matter but gave no official answer before press time.
