Uganda Cubs lose to Burkina Faso in U-17 World Cup penalty shootout

Uganda exited the FIFA Under-17 World Cup after losing a penalty shootout to Burkina Faso following a draw at Aspire Zone Pitch 5 in Qatar. The Cubs conceded all five spot kicks while missing one attempt, ending their tournament despite earlier eliminating Senegal in the previous round.

Arafat Nkoola gave Uganda the lead with a curled finish assisted by Abubakali Walusimbi, but substitute Alassana Bagayogo equalized for the Young Stallions to force the shootout. Coach Brian Ssenyondo fielded Enock Bagenda in place of suspended captain James Bogere and introduced goalkeeper Adrian Mukwanga specifically for penalties.

Burkina Faso advances to meet Italy in the quarterfinals after the Europeans defeated Uzbekistan in their knockout match. The African side had previously shocked defending champions Germany to reach this stage of the competition.
