Uganda Judges Slam Shady Lawyer Tactics in New Law Year

Uganda's courts started the new year with a big promise to protect people and ensure everyone follows the rules. Many important people came to a special meeting in Kampala. Mr. Jackson Karugaba Kafuuzi, who helps make laws, talked about making courts work better for everyone.

Mr. Kafuuzi told the judges and lawyers how the courts help keep Uganda fair. He explained that different parts of the government have their jobs, but they work together to help people. He talked about new rules they made last year to improve schools and roads and solve problems between people.

The courts made a very important decision last year. They said regular people cannot go to special army courts. This means the government needs to change some old rules to improve them. They created a new computer system to help people check if someone really owns a piece of land.

Mr. Kafuuzi said judges must make fair decisions without anyone telling them what to do. He wants everyone to trust the courts. He talked about some problems with lawyers who did not take good care of money that belonged to older people. He asked all lawyers to be nice to each other and respect the judges.

The courts want to make things faster and easier for people this year. They will use more computers and let people talk to judges through video calls. But they need to make sure everyone knows how to use these new tools. Mr. Kafuuzi wants lawyers to learn about new things like robots and building laws.

Mr. Kafuuzi finished by saying something very important. He said rules are not just for some people but for everyone. Rules help keep everyone safe and make life fair. All the lawyers and judges promised to work hard to help make Uganda better for everyone.
