Uganda to Mark Human Trafficking Victims with National Day of Remembrance

Uganda will honor human trafficking victims during national events on July 30th. The country enters July with plans for these important remembrance activities. Kigenyi Basalirwa Derrick leads anti-trafficking efforts as Deputy National Coordinator under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He stressed how vital these memorial events are for fighting this serious crime. Recent months saw many Ugandans return home after traffickers took them to Asia.

Derrick praised the government for working hard to protect citizens from trafficking dangers. He also thanked nonprofit groups and other organizations for their support. These groups help Uganda battle trafficking crimes across the nation. International partners also assist with rescue and prevention efforts. Their combined work helps bring trafficked people back to safety.

The official warned that government workers who participate in trafficking will face serious punishment. No one will escape legal action if they help traffickers harm innocent people. Courts will prosecute these cases to the full extent possible. Officials must follow the law and protect citizens instead of harming them. Justice will come to those who break trafficking laws.

The July commemoration serves multiple important purposes for the country. Leaders want to teach people about trafficking dangers and prevention methods. The events will honor those who suffered from these terrible crimes. Uganda demonstrates its strong commitment to stopping trafficking completely. These efforts show the nation takes victim protection seriously.
