Rugby officials from Uganda made a special trip to meet South African diplomats today. The visit happened at the South African High Commission building located right here in Kampala. Nile Breweries marketing chief Wangechi Gitahi joined Uganda Rugby Union boss Isaac Lutwama Nsubuga for the important meeting. They sat down with Solly Sebola who runs the South African mission as acting head. The talks focused on Uganda hosting the Rugby Africa Cup tournament and bringing the famous Webb Ellis trophy to town.
Eight African rugby teams will battle it out at Mandela National Stadium from July 8 through July 20 next year. The tournament winner earns a direct ticket to the 2027 Rugby World Cup happening in Australia. Uganda faces Kenya as their first opponent when the knockout rounds kick off.
