UN Women's donor tour in Cox's Bazar gets real

UN Women hosted diplomats from Australia, Japan, and Sweden at Cox's Bazar on Sept. 21-22 to assess humanitarian programs for Rohingya refugees. The delegation toured renovated facilities and met with eight women's advocacy groups alongside UN agency staff and local officials. Rohingya women described maintaining leadership roles despite reduced international assistance at meetings held in Camp 5.

Representatives praised collaboration efforts between humanitarian organizations working in the refugee settlements. The mission reviewed gender equality initiatives and protection services provided through the response program. Donors pledged continued support for advancing women's rights in the camps that shelter hundreds of thousands of displaced people from Myanmar.
