UNEB reports record 1.4 million candidates registered for 2025 national exams in Uganda

Uganda National Examinations Board recorded substantial growth in student registrations for national assessments this year. Executive Director Dan Odongo reported 1,416,318 candidates enrolled across all examination levels after registration concluded on July 31. The figure represents a 6.9 percent jump from last year's 1,319,139 participants. Advanced Certificate examinations showed the strongest expansion at 14.69 percent with 166,464 students. Certificate of Education registrations climbed 12.07 percent to reach 431,856 candidates.

Primary Leaving Examination numbers rose modestly by 2.51 percent to 817,998 students. Female students outnumber males at primary and certificate levels, while males dominate advanced examinations. Gender distribution remains relatively balanced across all testing categories. Schools must post candidate lists on public boards at least 60 days before examinations begin. This requirement ensures transparency and allows students to verify their enrollment details before testing commences.
