UNESCO gives Banjul's St Joseph's school a sticker

St Joseph's Senior Secondary School in Banjul won the Seeds of Hope for a Better Future 2025 competition in the artworks category with its Campaign for a Sustainable Banjul project. The UNESCO-supported contest drew entries from students worldwide who submitted creative works addressing peace, climate action, and resilience. Grade 12 students created paintings based on Banjul's partnership with Ostend in Belgium on climate issues.

Winners from The Gambia, France, the United Kingdom, Haiti, and Kenya shared a prize fund of 5,000 pounds. Judges praised the Gambian entry as robust, and all participants received books from Prestel Publishing. Lamin Jarjou of the Gambia National Commission for UNESCO said the school's participation in the Associated Schools Programme Network produced the achievement.
